How Much Does Travel Insurance for Georgia Cost? Prices & Examples

Travel-medical insurance for visitors to Georgia is priced as days × travellers × a flat per-day rate (€2.5, $2.9 or ₾8 per traveller). See worked examples, what affects the price, and the 30,000 GEL cover limit.

The short answer: a simple per-day price

If you are planning a trip to Georgia and want to know what the mandatory travel-medical insurance will cost, the answer is refreshingly simple. The price is built from just one flat rate per traveller, per day. There are no tiers, no age brackets, and no hidden fees added at checkout.

The per-day rate is €2.5, $2.9, or ₾8 per traveller, depending on the currency. Customers pay in USD by default, with EUR also available. Whatever the length of your stay or the size of your group, the same rate applies to every traveller for every day of cover.

This insurance is required under Government of Georgia Decree №602 and is underwritten by JSC Insurance Company Unison (ID/VAT 404393152). Through Georgian Insurance you can buy it online and receive your official policy in minutes.

How the price is calculated

The formula is straightforward: number of days × number of travellers × the per-day rate. That is the entire calculation. Once you know how many days you will be in Georgia and how many people are travelling, you can work out the exact price yourself before you even reach the payment screen.

For example, in euros: a 10-day trip for one traveller is 10 × 1 × €2.5 = €25. A 10-day trip for three travellers is 10 × 3 × €2.5 = €75. The structure stays the same in every currency — only the per-day rate changes (€2.5, $2.9 or ₾8).

Because the price scales directly with days and travellers, longer stays and larger groups cost more in a fully predictable way. Nothing about your nationality, the season, or your booking date changes the rate.

Worked examples you can check yourself

Here are a few common scenarios with the full math shown, so you can confirm the numbers against your own trip. Each line is days × travellers × rate.

One traveller for 7 days: 7 × 1 × €2.5 = €17.50 (or 7 × 1 × $2.9 = $20.30). One traveller for 14 days: 14 × 1 × €2.5 = €35 ($40.60). Two travellers for 7 days: also 14 traveller-days, so 7 × 2 × €2.5 = €35 ($40.60). One traveller for 30 days: 30 × 1 × €2.5 = €75 ($87).

Notice that two travellers for 7 days costs the same as one traveller for 14 days — both come to 14 traveller-days. That is the logic of the per-day model: the total simply follows how many traveller-days of cover you buy.

What affects the price (and what doesn't)

Only two things change your price: the length of your stay in days, and the number of travellers on the policy. Add a day and you add one per-day rate; add a person and you add a full set of per-day rates for their trip.

Just as important is what does not affect the price. There are no hidden fees, no booking charges, and no surcharges layered on at the end. The figure you calculate from days × travellers × rate is the figure you pay.

One practical rule to keep in mind: your policy must cover your full stay in Georgia. When you choose your dates, set them to span your entire visit so there are no uncovered days.

Low price, substantial cover

It is worth putting the price in context. Each insured traveller has a total cover limit of 30,000 GEL, which applies to emergency medical care, hospitalization, evacuation, repatriation, and the other situations included in the policy.

Set against the cost of unplanned medical treatment abroad — where a single hospital stay or medical evacuation can run into the thousands — a per-day rate of a few euros is modest. For most short trips the total comes to less than the cost of a meal out, while the protection behind it reaches up to 30,000 GEL per traveller.

The aim is not to oversell the insurance, but to make the value clear: a small, predictable price secures meaningful protection for the duration of your trip.
